Awe thanks! You can reblog as much as you want! That’s what it’s there for ♥
It was a long ask. I get it :) I’m so sorry about your situation. It sounds extremely tough. You’re right though. Your gf isn’t going to get help until she’s ready.
However, when you’re talking to her about it, try to make it more about you than her. What I mean by that is use “I-statements”. You can talk about how her habits are affecting your relationship and your recovery. Try to be as non-judgmental as possible. Let her know that you’re simply coming from a place of concern and love. She’s going to take it how she will though. There’s only so much you can do.
EDRefferal.com is a great resource for finding treatment. I’d start here. I do see that they have Bradenton to click on so that’s good. Remember, you need to take care of you — as much as you want to take care of her. This may not be a good time for you to be together. I know that sounds horrible, but your recovery needs to come first. Best wishes. ♥
In honor of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, I just want to spend a minute or two encouraging those of you who are in recovery from an eating disorder.
Yes, it is probably the hardest thing you’ve ever done or will ever do. It has to be hard to make it worth it. And it is so worth it.
If you believe in it and give it your all, full recovery is completely possible, for everyone. I fought hard for years. And now, the fight is over. I won. I believe that people can be truly free of their eating disorders. And because I believe that, it is true for me. I’m done fighting. I am at peace. I love life. I love food. I love my body. I love me.
And You can too.
Thanks for your message, and congratulations! One month is amazing. You’re so right. People DO care, and you CAN heal. ♥ ♥
I feel like you maybe should see your psychiatrist again, then perhaps you need to. But it seems like talking to an eating disorder therapist could be even more useful. Have you ever received treatment for your body image issues? You don’t have to live disliking food or your body. You can ask your psychiatrist for referrals or check out edrefferal.com for helping finding someone. Best wishes ♥
